{"id":8,"date":"2021-03-31T22:07:53","date_gmt":"2021-03-31T22:07:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fluorideexposed.org\/fluoridescience\/?page_id=8"},"modified":"2022-04-26T06:18:19","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T06:18:19","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/fluorideexposed.org\/fluoridescience\/about","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Fluoride Science \/ FluorideScience.org offers the following resources to assist health care and public health professionals as well as decision makers in the community who engage in educating the general public regarding the best scientific information available on the use of fluoride: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Topic Summaries&nbsp;with abstracts of available systematic reviews and bibliographies.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fluorideexposed.org\/fluoridescience\/appraisals\/\">Critical Appraisals<\/a>&nbsp;of individual studies with reviewers\u2019 rating of scientific quality<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fluorideexposed.org\/fluoridescience\/resources\/\">Critical Review or Commentaries<\/a>&nbsp;for those studies that do not meet the criteria for critical appraisal and the subjects of controversies<\/li><li>Interviews with Scientists&nbsp;who have devoted their careers to research fluoride-risks and benefits.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fluoride Science Operational Manual<\/strong>&nbsp;describes the details of how we develop resources for this website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/fluorideexposed.org\/fluoridescience\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/FS-Operational-Manual.pdf\" style=\"border-radius:6px;background-color:#0071a1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Operational Manual<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure objectivity, transparency, and reproducibility of the review process, the Fluoride Science Quality Assessment Worksheet was developed through a collaborative effort between the University of Albany School of Public Health and the Center for Fluoride Research Analysis.  The worksheet includes questions on predefined criteria  that guide reviews to examine the study relevance and validity, strengths and weaknesses, level of rigor, and support from other studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/fluorideexposed.org\/fluoridescience\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Quality-Assessment-Worksheet.pdf\" style=\"border-radius:6px;background-color:#0071a1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download quality assessment<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For inquiries regarding the resources at fluoridescience.org or permission for their use, please contact&nbsp;inquiry@fluoridescience.org.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FluorideScience.org was originally made possible by the Health Research and Services Administration (HRSA) grant (T12HP19335), then maintained&nbsp;by the New York State Oral Health Center of Excellence (OHCE), with endorsement from the American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD).
